They are walking talking contradictions . For example
They seem to approve of the Not so Patriot act which gives the government complete access into our private lives .
And Yet they give corporations the complete freedom to lie cheat and steal.
Why are YOU against freedom of speech for those speaking out against it?
Nobody CARES that they have the right to build it. Everybody knows that. What we care about is this so-called “monument and bridge to peace” has called all these problems because people consider it DISRESPECTFUL and the Muslims who want to build it won’t even CONSIDER moving it. If it is TRULY a bridge to peace, why allow it to cause conflict? Why allow it to hurt people?
Why don’t you just THINK about that for a minute.
And while you’re thinking, remember that even some Muslims here say building it is not a good idea.
It isn’t just Conservatives. 70% of New Yorkers don’t want it built so close to ground zero. New York is a very liberal city so that 70% is most likely a majority of Liberals.
And no one is saying they can’t build it. They are just saying that it should be built further from the place were 3000 innocent American civilians, who were at work, were murdered in the name of Islam and Allah! In other words they are asking that the Imam show some sensitivity.
It really has nothing to do with any of that (well maybe a little…). It’s all just something to talk about to get people riled up to vote Republican in the elections that are coming up. Notice how there has a section of the Pentagon reserved for religious services for people of all faiths, including Islam, during work hours built in 2002, just after a plane flew into it. Not a few blocks away, but IN the Pentagon itself. It’s all just to get people riled up to get out there in 2 months.

We conservatives should handle the situation EXACTLY LIKE YOU LIBERALS HANDLE RELIGIOUS CENTERS ON PRIVATE LAND:
Surround them with troops, send in the tanks, gun ‘em all down and burn ‘em out.

You see, those conservatives (not all) like freedoms that make their lives easier and appeal to their values… but not other people’s.
I love freedom. I would never get an abortion, but do I want to take away another woman’s freedom to have one? Hell to the no! Not gay, but should I decide gays can’t get married? Hell no.
Freedom doesn’t apply just to my values but to the values of those who are different from me as well. That’s true freedom.
Sigh nobody is saying they legally cant build, we’re just voicing our opposition. Do you think its wise to build a war memorial to American WW2 veterans in downtown Hiroshima? Same logic dude

Muslims don’t have 1st Amendment Rights. Brown people don’t have 4th Amendment rights. They don’t think Blacks should have their rights spelled out by the Civil and Voting Rights Acts and now they want to repeal citizenship for the decedents of slaves.
We know they have the right to build the mosque there. We are not opposing their right.
What many oppose is their lack of sensitivity building so close to GZ. And voicing opposing views is guaranteed to all of us.
Conservatives aren’t against freedom…the muslims have a legal right to build the MOSQUE near ground zero….nobody is arguing that fact…but is it the right thing to do???
