I’m a 14 year old guy who’s dream would be to move to new york and work as an editor. I will admit that although I am only 14, I think like an adult and am very mature. Would it be realistic to move from England (where I live) all the way to New york (manhattan) for a job and just to experiance it? Thanks.

Hey mate,
I’m 15 and was born in Liverpool. My family moved over to Long Island about 3 years ago because of my fathers job as a architect.
I think NYC is the best place ever, I go into the city all the time and it has great atmosphere! My father works in Manhattan and he never wants to lose it.
The problem in your case us that you want to become an editor, which is a job with very little vacancies in the city. It is very difficult to move over to the US.
If you have close family (parents, siblings) in the US they can recommend you to get a visa and it will be a million times easier. What you need to do is to study and get really good grades in school, college etc. And then maybe do some newspaper work in England then you can go after a company in the US and show them all of your achievements and then they will do most of the work for you (getting into the US).
You should take a trip over to the city before you actually move over here so you know what it’s like.
Also, while your here research some newspapers and vacancies.
Always remember, your young and you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.
Its just another Citylife, the only difference is that in NYC the people just tend to move around and work quicker.
