Most Underrated Player In The Nfl?

By admin Posted in: London

Who do you think the most underrated player at any position is in the NFL? My nomination…
London Fletcher–MLB Redskins, going into his 14th season
Supporting facts:
Ray Lewis: 15 seasons (starting 194 games)
London Fletcher: 13 seasons (starting 192 games, consecutively. This ranks second only behind Brett Favre)
Since the NFL has been starting recording tackles as an official stat in 2001
Ray Lewis: 1,045 tackles
London Fletcher: 1,244 tackles
Fletcher entered league in 1998
From 1998-2010
Ray Lewis: 30 sacks
London Fletcher: 30 sacks
I have proven that London Fletcher is Ray Lewis, statistic wise. Now…
Ray Lewis: 11 Pro Bowl Selections
London Fletcher: 1 Pro Bowl Selection (only because Johnathon Vilma of the Super Bowl contending Saints dropped out)
Some will counter on the basis of Ray Lewis being a better leader, but I will disagree. Lewis is the more VOCAL leader. You hear anybody talk about Fletcher and they will say he is every bit of a leader as Lewis.

  1. Rexual Healing Says

I totally agree 100% about Fletcher. Most times when a player is underrated its because they just started to break out and haven’t started to get the recognition they deserve, but in Fletcher’s case its because he lived in the shadow of Ray Lewis and to a lesser extent Brian Urlacher.
Besides Fletcher I’d say that Jamaal Charles is a guy that not many people have heard of but is on the verge of becoming an elite runningback.
Other guys that don’t get anywhere near enough credit are Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph (the best CB duo in the NFL), Anthony Spencer, Steven Jackson, Yeremiah Bell, Nick Barnett and London Fletcher.
Its hard to say who’s the most underrated, since that all depends on who’s doing the rating, but the case could be made for any of those guys.

  2. Î ŠÊÊ ÝØÛ ¥ØÛÑĞ ŚĤØŤŤŶ Says

I absolutely agree with you, he may as well be the one of the most underrated LB’s of all time. He’s also a leader to many off the field as he was one of three people to be nominated for Walter Payton Man of the Year this year. I’m glad he finally got elected to the probowl because he should of been long time ago. And don’t forget like Ray he’s also won a Superbowl as well as he has the most tackles in the league the past decade.

  3. Colorful Eaglesfan Says

    Fletcher is under rated…I agree
It might seem kind of obvious but my nomination goes to Andre Johnson.
In 2009 and 2008 Johnson has more than 1,500 receiving yards (in each season)

  4. Sierra. Alpha. Mike. Says

    Tyvon Branch, Zach Miller.

  5. Morgan Freeman Says

London Fletcher without a doubt, I hate how the pro bowl is selected.

  6. tmac1974 Says

london fletcher…that guy is a beast but does not get all the commercial accolades like a brian urlacher or ray lewis.

  7. Matthew McBride Says

Some will counter on the basis of Ray Lewis being a better leader, but I will disagree. Lewis is the more VOCAL leader. You hear anybody talk about Fletcher and they will say he is every bit of a leader as Lewis.

  8. Flip Says

Fletcher is so underrated, I wouldn’t even have thought of him if you didn’t mention him. When I saw the question, I thought of Owen Daniels.

  9. ♂Da Prinz♂ Says

London Fletcher fer sure! He may not have the “spirit” that Lewis has, but he damn sure has the talent.
But he plays for the Redskins, who (no offense) aren’t that great as a unit. they have many talented players, but they suck as a team. there is no unity, they are selfish. Like Jason Campbell (no longer there) had potential. he just wasn’t given a chance to show it because the teamwork wasn’t there.
EDIT: also not really credited for his accomplishments is Matt Ryan from Boston College who plays for the Atlanta Falcons. In his rookie year he became the first rookie QB in history to take his team to the playoffs.

  10. Pittsburgh Steelers Says

    London Fletcher

  11. Chris Says

    Drew Brees!
