I moved from Chicago to Phoenix. I asked my friend where to get on the expressway, and he didn’t know what the hell I was talking about. And then he asked if I meant the “freeway”. Why is Arizona so backwards, its called an EXPRESSWAY.

I call it expressway to, but at 5 o clock in chicago its a parking lot(:
A freeway is defined as a divided highway with full control of access. The difference between partial and full access control is that expressways may have a limited number of driveways and at-grade intersections
While access to freeways is allowed only at grade-separated interchanges. Expressways under this definition do not conform to interstate highway standards (which ban all driveways and at-grade intersections) and are therefore usually numbered as state highways or U.S. highways.
So there is a difference.
It really depends where you live. I grew up near Chicago and understand the term expressway. I lived in California and it was called a freeway. Here is Washington state, many people call it a highway.
lol its not called a highway. any 2 lane road is called a highway. expressways/freeways are different. they involve tolls. and i guess it just depends where you come from. lol. soda/pop. that kinda thing haha.
i call it an expressway though haha
It’s a freeway… and expressway has a tollbooth on it. I have yet to drive on one of those, in California, Oregon, or Arizona.
It’s called however the state defines the roads. Now that you know, I think you can deal with the new terminology. When in Rome….ya know…
Tis a motorway in Ireland…
They call it Autobahn in Germany it does not mean one is correct and one is not.
It’s called a highway.
When in Rome…
nope the west is always right!
