I am 23 and currently living in London, England. (I am originally from Ireland) I work in Technical Support and Account Management. I love to travel more than anything and I want to experience new places so I applied to many different companies in the USA.
I have 5 job offers in 5 cities…
I am looking for somewhere that is culturally diverse and open to Europeans.
My question is which city do you think is best for me to live in?
Atlanta, GA
Charlotte, NC
Boston, MA
Columbus, GA
Savannah, GA
Atlanta has the highest paying job of all of them (56,000 US Dollars) but I am worried about the crime rate.
Please give me your honest opinions of these places. Thank you very much!

Is it downtown Atlanta? – that is where the crime is.
Atlanta has very many super wealthy suberbs that are safe.
You can move to one of them, and work downtown – safe during the day.
Be aware of the commute time – traffic can be a nightmare.
An apartment near a subway will be the way to go.
charlotte, culumbus and savanna – all beautiful
Cost of living practically nothing compared to atlanta
Boston – COLD – and high cost of living like in atlanta
Google “cost of living calculator by city”.
Try a couple of those calculators – it’s not how much you make – it’s how much it will cost you to live.

If you move to Boston, understand that the weather there SUCKS. I cant emphasize that enough.
Savannah has the best weather but is much smaller than Atlanta or Charlotte. Columbus is pretty small, I wouldnt want to live there. If you want small town, go Savannah. If you lose your job there, I dont know what other jobs exist there though. I grew up in Atlanta. I now live in Florida and like the beaches and warm weather MUCH better than Atlanta. But of your choices, I would go Atl or Charlotte.
Atlanta has arguably the worst traffic in the US. Average commute time is very very high.
I would go with Boston (because I’m from New England). Lots to do in the city itself, but you also have the whole northeast at your feet. Second pick is Charlotte.
P.S. Another advantage to Boston is that it’s surrounded by the Route 128 Hi-Tech corridor. In other words, lots of other tech companies in the area.
P.P.S. Yes, the weather can be harsh, but it’s not like Chicago. More a nuisance. And a great day in New England beats a great day anywhere else.
“Originally from Ireland” … Go to Boston. You’ll find numerous distant cousins there.
charlotte is just as dangerous as atlanta. dont worry about the crime rate unless you plan to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. personally, being from north carolina, i find charlotte to be a wonder place to live. i havent been to savannah before, and boston is quite gloomy. atlanta is nice too.
