Does Canada Have A City Like Miami?

By admin Posted in: Miami

I wass gonna go to canada with my gurlz but i didd my research and theres like no palm trees ew.
What is the closest city like miami in canada because i need to keep my tan lol.
Oh, and do we need passports even though we are US citizens?

No, of course you don’t need passports. US citizens can go wherever they want. The borders are just to keep other people out.
The closest city like Miami in Canada would be Victoria (where they actually do have palm trees growing in gardens around the city) and you can tan in between your goosebumps.

First suggestion would be to go get yourself a map of the world. Look at how close the city of Miami (in Florida) is to the equator. Then look how close Canada is to the Arctic Circle. (In fact, we are partially IN the Arctic…)
Then ask yourself why a plant that is primarily found in tropical and sub-tropical climates would be present there. Even California (known for its sun and surf) actually imported most of it’s palm trees from other places.
If having no palm trees (ew!) grosses you out, and you want to keep your tan, then Canada is probably not for you. While we do get sunny days here and our summer days can get well over 90F, we are not a tropical country. Our mildest weather is on the coast of British Columbia, just north of Washington state.
As for passports, yes they are required now due to the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) implemented by George Bush and the US government. For the record, Canada actually does not require Americans to have a passport, but you will need “a valid travel document” to get BACK to USA, which is a passport, green card, enhanced driver’s license, NEXUS card, and certain others.

If you want the party atmosphere, you are best off in Toronto. However, if you like romance and art and the people you might see in Miami, you might enjoy Montreal, which has a great night life on Rue Ste Catherine….
Palm trees you might find….indoors….or fake ones….
but you will learn after visiting Canada that more than one atmosphere can ring to one person as “the most lovely place you’ve ever seen” even if it is a complete contrast to the other place you loved just as much.
so is often the case when people visit Switzerland and then Hawaii. Paradise comes in multiple forms and styles…and when separated from one and in the presence of the other…it is temporarily the only one you can relate to….

  4. Objective Logic Says

Um, no. Canada has no city like Miami. Do you see any palm trees in places like Detroit or New York?
You can still tan (and burn – badly) in many places in Canada. Visit Toronto if you want a big city atmosphere; you can tan all over Ontario, and places in southern BC are also fairly south (but you have to remember, Canada is north of the USA. That means we are colder than your most Northern States. You will never find a place like Florida in Canada).
I’d say, go to Toronto. It’s fun, has a great night life, big, similar to an American atmosphere, and warm in the summer. You’re not going to find palm trees here, and don’t expect to tan in the winter! No matter where you go.
Since you are visiting another country, yes, of course you will need passports. Americans don’t have a “free pass” into our country. We do have laws you know.

Yes you will need a passport. Actually, you will need it to get back into the States and Canada will not let you enter unless you have the necessary papers to get back home.
We have cities that are very hot in the summer but nothing like Miami. Apparently some places in Canada are mild enough that some hardy types of palm trees can live.http://www.palmtreesinoakbay.com/

No, there are no palm trees in Canada. Canada is a northern country…
Yes, you will need a passport. I’m a Canadian citizen and have to carry a passport to go to the US, what makes you think being an American means you don’t need one to come here?

  7. Ric Says

If all you’re looking for is a tan, then go to Miami.
US citizens are not privileged or special, they must have a passport just like anyone else.

  8. GSinG Says

You need passports especially BECAUSE you’re US citizens.
