I’d like to go to Amsterdam but I don’t really know about the districts–where would be a good place to book my hotel, walking distance from shopping, interesting places, etc. Is there a certain neighborhood that’s got a lot of cool places? Any recommendations? Thanks!

In my opinion one of the best cities in the world. From a traveller’s perspective Amsterdam is divided in two: General suburbia and central Amsterdam, which is where all the hostels/hotels are. I’ve always stayed in central Amsterdam. Everything worth seeing in Amsterdam is within walking distance if you stay central, from the Red Light District to the Rijksmuseum. Whether you’re going for culture or debauchery, it’s all in central Amseterdam.
