Okay, state capitals. THEY MAKE NO EFFING SENSE. Why isn’t New York City the capital of NY? Seattle/Olympia? Miami/Taahasee? Baltimore/Anapolis? New Orleans/Baton Rouge?
I could come up with more, but I’l leave it at that. I get that theyre usually just tourist attractions, but it would only make sense… at least to me…

Each State’s Constitution spells out how the State Capital is to be chosen. Example: In Oklahoma, the State Capital is where the State Seal is (like Air Force One). The Capital of Oklahoma was Guthrie Okla. Till the Seal was stolen in the dark of night and brought to Oklahoma City and put under guard; Silly but true.
The capitals usually have historical significance. Just because one city is more eminent than another or larger than another today doesn’t mean it was 100-200 years ago.
You gave no reason whatsoever as to why the largest city in the state should automatically be the capitol.
HMM. NEVER GAVE IT ANY THOUGHT. YOU SHOULDN’T LET IT BOTHER YOU.
Springfield is actually the 3rd capital of Illinois.
